Eight blinds from early position is no longer desperation but not yet comfort: you have an orbit and a half to make a decision, and every pass through the blinds bites a noticeable chunk out of your stack. The equilibrium shove here is 31 hands, exactly 14% of combos.
Push from EP, 8 BB stack
The make-up: pairs from 44, suited aces from A7s, offsuit aces from AJo, kings from K9s and KJo, queens from Q9s, JTs. Compare with 5 BB: the small pairs 22–33 and the connector T9s have dropped out — with three extra blinds a shove has to get through more often, and the bottom of the range stops paying for itself against seven players behind you.
The typical mistakes at this mark mirror each other. The first is shoving A5s or KTo "because the stack is burning": it isn't — you still have time for a hand from the range. The second is folding 55 or A9s while waiting for "something more respectable": it may never come, and these hands are solidly profitable all-in.
With antes, widen the range by roughly a third — towards small pairs and suited broadways, the first hands to come back into the shove.
